Bogota Junior Police Academy
The Bogota Junior Police Academy's main goal is to give the youth members of our community an experience unlike any other. Our comprehensive summer program concentrates on providing our cadets the tools they need to succeed in life. This program includes interactive emergency services training and activities, as well as educational lectures on the difficult challenges they may encounter in today's world. We strongly believe that today's young people deserve the best guidance possible. Our extraordinary training helps our children reach their maximum potential, while improving their social and academic skills.

What we do
Our program includes numerous hands-on activities such as CPR, Fire Department, Rescue and SCUBA training, rock climbing, and crime scene investigations. We also have educational lectures on personal hygiene, study skills and life skills. Our cadets observe a live firearms demonstration as well as a K-9 presentation. Through numerous team building exercises, our cadets learn to accomplish goals as one unit. Every cadet is outfitted with two uniforms, a duty and hygiene bag, classroom materials, and a water bottle.
Director's Message
In 2023, the Bogota Police Department and members of the Bogota Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 161 created the Bogota Junior Police Academy, formally known as the Bogota Police Emergency Services Youth Academy. This program has many fundamental goals, but primarily enhances the confidence and self-respect of our young people. We teach our cadets the meaning of community while maintaining the highest standards of social behavior, personal conduct and personal appearance. This program is designed to guide our children towards becoming highly motivated and successful contributors to the members of our community. I have seen many of our cadets push their limits, face their fears, and surpass their previously perceived potential. I am certain the Bogota Junior Police Academy will continue to enhance the strength, intelligence and confidence with the children that help strengthen our future.
Thank you,
Det. Michael LaFerrera
